I thought this story was fantastic. It was sent to me by my friend Jake Merrell. A group of senior citizens was on a cruise excursion in Costa Rica when they were attacked by some muggers. Normally this is where the story takes a tragic turn, but not this time.
One of the tourists, a 70-plus year old veteran, subdued one of the attackers. The attacker died as a result of injuries. The police declined to hold any of the tourists:
The tourists left on their Carnival cruise after the incident, and [local police chief] Hernandez said authorities do not plan to press any charges against them, saying they acted in self defense.
"They were in their right to defend themselves after being held up," Hernandez said.
I find the quick decision of authorities in this case to be very refreshing. The perp got what he deserved.

I'd like to see a picture of this 70 year old man-- I hope he didn't have a 30 something on his arm. That would sour the story a little. Am I a pessimist? :) Very good little story.
