Awesome Video Saturday XXV: My Awesome Kids

This is a great video of Joseph taken last night. He decided to take over Millie's feeding.

This video is a few months old, but I'd never posted it. Millie doesn't know whether to laugh or cry.

More new videos can be found here, on my YouTube page.

Arrrrgh! It were Halloween!

Joseph loves coming to the office. Not for me, mind you, but for Bea and her cow full of jellybeans. You pull on the vaca's tail and out pop the jellybeans. As soon as he walks in the door he goes straight there.
He came by yesterday, dressed as a pirate for halloween. These are from my Q.

The hat doesn't stay on too long.

A mouth full of jellybean.

La Familia

Lacy went with Joseph to a pumpkin patch the other day. I had to put these pictures up. The kid is growing so fast!

SPOTD Kids

I love this picture of Millie & me. Lacy has done a nice job of posting pictures of the kids on her blog. Since we got a new computer at home I don't even deal with pictures very much, hence the long lag time since the last update of the SPOTD kids page. Here is a cute one of Joseph getting his hair cut last week. Check out her blog for more.

The Big 2

Joseph turned 2 years old today. It is hard to believe that so much time has passed since he was born. His start was a tricky one, but as you can see he is doing great

Here he is with his namesake and Grandpa.

Looking handsome on his birthday.

The whole family on the beach.

We had a nice birthday party last Saturday with my parents and Ross, Lillie, & Sophia who were visiting us from California. They have some pictures of their visit on Lillie's blog.

Vacation

I thought I'd post some pics from our vacation There's nothing like a sunset on the Gulf of Mexico.

Here is a photo of the family on a balmy 4th of July.

I don't remember having much interest in sand castles as a child, but I sure enjoy building them now. This is one I worked on the other day. I went for one with a gatehouse like Castillo de San Marcos in St. Augustine.

Millie is getting bigger and stronger all the time. She's a little beauty.

Here is Joseph with his uncle Chris, having a great time.

An image of the 4th of July fireworks from the view of our building.

All in all, not a bad place to be.

Adorable Children

I love these kids. This first video is of Millie making some really sweet noises last night. She had her 2 month (!) appointment and she is 13.5 lbs and 25 inches, growing very well.

Joseph still loves jumping, and always on the count of 3.

A Happy Father's Day

Being a father is as rewarding as it gets. Today I held my little boy as he got ready for his nap. I tell him I love him and he puckers his lips to give me a kiss. I look at him and hope to see some of me there. I hope that he likes to hang out with me and wants to be like me.

Millie is so small that it is hard to have those kinds of thoughts. Mostly I'm just glad that she is healthy and I feel grateful that she is so beautiful and sweet. I am also glad that she has a big brother who will know that his duty is to watch out for his little sister.

I'm also grateful to have a wonderful wife who helps me to be a better dad. The kids at Church sang about their fathers today. About four words in I lost it. I have just what I want, and for now I get to hold them in my arms. Not a bad life.

Good Times

I didn't blog much last week owing to the visit of our great friends Matt & Amber Nielsen. We had a great time with them.

Justin & I are not at all glad to see Matt.

They have a cute little boy named Carter, seen here getting cozy with Millie. Watch those hands boy!

We spent some time at the Springs. Joseph was having the time of his life.

We also took a little "mancation" to Universal Studios.

It was hot, but we had a good time, and although you can just barely see it in this photo, Justin managed to get some gum to travel from his tongue to the top of this dead-drop ride at Islands of Adventure.

Justin, Matt, and Jon made another go at the "Gallon Challenge." Perhaps there will be video to come.

We were sad to see them go but grateful for the time we had together. Almost felt like old times at BYU, except for the whole thing about being married and the kids, but that's a small thing, right? (Fall 2001 with Tom Proctor).

Indulge Me

Time for a proud dad to show off the kids.

Ever wonder who you're really talking to on those customer service calls?

What a life!

Anyone going for a walk?

The SPOTD kids, just chillin'.

Site Update

You may have noticed that I've updated the look of the blog. I wanted to make it more consistent with the look of the rest of the SPOTD website. Let me know if you hate/love it.

I wanted to post some more pictures of Joseph & Millie, and also mention that I will update their page on the website tomorrow afternoon.

Things are going great with the baby and her big brother is being very good to her as well. Here he is proclaiming the greatness of Brigham Young University:

What a life for this little gal:

My three favorite people:

I have a lot of great stuff for the blog tomorrow. Don't be shy.

Freedom!

Since not everyone visits the links in the SPOTD e-mail, I thought I'd post this video of Joseph. He was playing with markers one day, and by chance or providence happened to end up looking like one of my favorite film protagonists and heroes. So I made a small tribute, and taught him a new word.

He will say "freedom" now whenever I pump my fist. It's great. My new word for him is "awesome," which sounds something like "awe-shom-ah."

Joseph in Action

Here is the first of two new videos I've made of Joseph. Most of the footage was done on the same day, but I split it into two parts, one of him talking to the camera and the other of him jumping around. Included in the latter video is Joseph playing with the rocks in our little courtyard.

Joseph talking:

Joseph jumping:

He's as fun as they come.

Quick Hits

These are just a few things on my mind:

  • I put some new pictures of Joseph up on my website, as well as some thoughts about what a great little kid he is.

  • I rewatched the movie Open Range when it was on AMC. That is one fine western. It was directed by Kevin Costner, was somewhat successful and generally well-received by critics. The cinematography is great. The interaction between Costner and Robert Duvall seems true to what those kind of men would be like, and the final gun battle is ugly, long, and as real as I imagine I've seen.

  • Here are some photos of our new house. We're pretty excited about it, and especially about the backyard. It is larger than we intially expected it to be, and it should be a great place for Joseph to play, especially as it is fenced in. And as Joseph gets bigger, there's always the old summer classic, the Slip'n'Slide.

Joseph Sings the Hits

I have a new video of Joseph, in which he showcases his new musical talents. It's pretty fun. The reason he is shirtless is that the video was taken shortly after dinner and he usually gets pretty dirty while he eats. Enjoy.
