¡Y gracias!
This is a synopsis of an interview with Alvaro Uribe, outgoing president of Colombia. He has accomplished much under difficult circumstances, so it is worth reading about what he was able to do.

Invictus
Just watched the film by Clint Eastwood. I really enjoyed it, and thought it was an excellent story, well told.
The poem that inspired the title is also great, provided here for your convenience. It was written by William Earnest Henley:
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
For my unconquerable soul.
In the fell clutch of circumstance
I have not winced nor cried aloud.
Under the bludgeonings of chance
My head is bloody, but unbowed.
Beyond this place of wrath and tears
Looms but the Horror of the shade,
And yet the menace of the years
Finds and shall find me unafraid.
It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate:
I am the captain of my soul.

Catching Up
Things have been more hectic than usual lately. Since the passing of Lacy's father, we have enjoyed the visit of best friends Justin and Kira Palmer and just yesterday the wonderful memorial service of Lacy's dad.
This is a funny post on the origin of an entertaining Wiki-Hoax.
I hope you enjoy your Memorial Day weekend, and take a moment to remember its purpose, and the men and women who have paid for our freedoms with their blood.

Awesome Video Saturday CXXXIV
I have enjoyed the latest string of ads promoting Toyota's new Sienna. We have a Honda Odyssey, which we selected in part because of what I felt was superior drive-feel. Still, good campaign, and this music video is pretty good.

Sadness and Joy
My wife Lacy's father, Randy Frisch, passed away early Sunday morning. She has written a beautiful post on her blog, which also chronicled the blessing of our son Isaac on Sunday morning.
Randy left behind a big loving family, and many great memories. He was great fun to be around and always enjoyed a good party, and he frequently commented on my political posts as we shared a pretty similar idea about what was good for the country.
He will be sorely missed.

EU Boo
This is a great piece on how inept the EU has been in dealing with Greece's debt crisis.
For all of our government's failings, things could have been worse.
